With high dirt-holding capacity, replaceable filter bags, and multiple micron ratings, it is suitable for water treatment, chemical, pharmaceutical, food processing, oil, and various industrial applications.

Description

Bag Filter

The Bag Filter is an efficient industrial filtration system designed to remove suspended solids, dust, particles, and other contaminants from liquids or gases. It uses one or more specially designed filter bags installed inside a pressure-rated housing to capture unwanted particles while allowing the filtered medium to pass through.

Bag Filters are widely used where high dirt-holding capacity, efficient particle removal, and easy filter replacement are required. The system can be configured with different filter bag materials, micron ratings, housing sizes, connection types, and number of bags according to the application.

Key Features

  • High-efficiency particle filtration
  • High dirt-holding capacity
  • Suitable for continuous industrial processes
  • Easy filter bag replacement
  • Simple and convenient maintenance
  • Wide range of filtration ratings
  • Single-bag and multi-bag configurations
  • Stainless steel and carbon steel housing options
  • Robust and durable construction
  • Low initial pressure drop
  • Available with various inlet and outlet connections
  • Suitable for different liquid and gas applications
  • Customizable according to process requirements

Working Principle

The Bag Filter operates by directing the process fluid into a filter housing containing one or more filter bags.

As the fluid enters the housing, it passes through the filter bag from one side to the other. Suspended particles and contaminants larger than the selected filtration rating are captured within or on the surface of the filter media.

The filtered fluid exits through the outlet of the housing, while the collected contaminants remain trapped inside the filter bag.

As the filter bag accumulates particles, the differential pressure across the filter increases. Once the pressure drop reaches the recommended limit, the filter bag can be removed and replaced with a clean bag.

Unfiltered Fluid → Filter Housing → Filter Bag → Particle Retention → Clean Fluid

Filter Bag Options

Different filter media can be selected according to the process requirements:

  • Polypropylene (PP) – Suitable for general liquid filtration and many chemical applications.
  • Polyester (PE) – Suitable for applications requiring durable filter media.
  • Nylon – Suitable for specific liquid filtration applications requiring good mechanical strength.
  • PTFE – Suitable for demanding chemical and high-temperature applications.
  • Specialty Filter Media – Available for specific process and contamination requirements.

Different micron ratings allow the filter to capture particles of different sizes according to the required filtration level.

Applications

Bag Filters are commonly used in:

  • Water Treatment
  • Chemical Processing
  • Pharmaceutical Industries
  • Food & Beverage Industries
  • Paint & Coating Industries
  • Oil & Lubricant Filtration
  • Petrochemical Industries
  • Industrial Process Filtration
  • Cooling Water Systems
  • Wastewater Treatment
  • Resin & Adhesive Processing
  • General Manufacturing

Advantages

The Bag Filter provides an effective and economical solution for removing suspended particles from process fluids. Its high dirt-holding capacity allows it to operate efficiently for extended periods before the filter bag needs replacement.

The simple housing design makes inspection, cleaning, and bag replacement relatively easy. Different bag materials and micron ratings allow the filtration system to be adapted to various process fluids and particle sizes.

Multi-bag configurations can provide higher flow capacity and are suitable for larger industrial processes.

Installation & Maintenance

The Bag Filter should be installed according to the specified flow direction and operating conditions. The housing should be properly supported and connected to the process pipeline using suitable fittings.

A differential pressure gauge or indicator can be installed across the filter to monitor pressure drop and determine when the filter bag requires replacement.

Regular inspection and timely replacement of filter bags help maintain filtration efficiency and prevent excessive pressure loss. The filter bag material should always be selected based on the process fluid, temperature, pressure, chemical compatibility, and required filtration rating.
